A key stage is a stage of the education system in England which identifies the education and knowledge children are expected to achieve at different ages. In primary education there is the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), KS1 (Key Stage 1) and KS2 (Key Stage 2).
EYFS

KS1
Learn about Key Stage 1 and how to progress learning.
EYFS is the first phase of education; however, KS1 is the first stage of primary education which follows the National Curriculum produced by the Department for Education. Key Stage 1 is from the ages of five to seven years old, where children are in Year 1 and Year 2. Work with Hannah Taylor at Primary Progression to learn more about Key Stage 1.
KS2

KS2 is the second stage of primary education which follows the National Curriculum produced by the Department for Education. Key Stage 2 is four years of education, from the ages of seven to eleven years old, where children are in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.
